Market Report

26-05-2015

Locally caught fish are the winners this week, Clamms is picking up excellent catches of King George Whiting, Calamari, Cuttlefish, Flathead and Snapper and some truly special surprises like Victorian John Dory, Flounder and plate size Snapper. Most of you will know that Blue Eye, Hapuka and Bass Groper have been a complete no show for a bit over a week now but our fisherman have informed us to expect a small amount late this week. For those of you disappointed with the last couple of Wild Barramundi seasons (we hear ya!) we have picked up about 10 whole 4/5kg Wild Barra from Mackay this morning at quite a reasonably price, needless to say they won't last long! Live Urchins and fresh Sea Urchin roe is starting to turn up at the markets late in the week so be sure to pre order your requirements and we'll do our best to supply Thursdays or Friday, this is a hand dived product meaning it's weather sensitive. We've put together an unusual assortment of seafood for the Bulk Buys this week with whole King George Whiting, Blue Grenadier fillets and our favourite Orange Roughie which represents incredible value. Although the quality of Swordfish and Tuna has been exceptional of late we aren't getting the volume we'd like and this is having a direct impact on prices.

Have I mentioned that you can see what's going on here at Clamms Seafood without getting all fishy! Follow @clammsseafood on Twitter and Instagram to see what we get up to. We love it when you tag us in on your seafood dishes so don't be shy now!
