Market Report

14-04-2015

It's going to be another tough week in seafood, there are a number of factors affecting supply of many of the more popular fish varieties this week. Lower than expected catch volumes of Flathead continue to limit supply and increase some already high pricing with no indication yet as to when things will improve. There have been some shocking weather conditions across the Tasman tough enough to keep even the Kiwi's from fishing for John Dory, Blue Eye and Hapuka among other species which will all be expensive and scarce for the next few days at least. On the bright side the fishing in Queensland over the weekend was sensational with great quality and good quantities of Tuna and Swordfish being hauled in and (see pic) delivered to Clamms. Rockling and Blue Grenadier is in good supply and the price of Rockling has come done a bit from last week's crazy high. Clamms has secured a little treat for Thursday! Fresh green extra-large King prawns from the Clarence River in NSW. These beauties will be available Thursday morning and are a real favourite amongst many chefs so pre order ASAP to avoid missing out.
