The market remains fairly quite this week with some average weather conditions mainly to blame! We are getting a good variety of local fish on a daily basis with species like; Bonito, School whiting, Rock flathead, Sand flathead and Garfish coming through in excellent condition as well as Tommy Rough and baby Calamari which are both pictured and available now. The supply of New Zealand fish is looking quite good for the rest of the week with good catches of Blue eye, John Dory, Flounder, Hapuka, Rockling and some Trumpeter expected later this week. This news will no doubt help to put a few minds at ease in regards to Mothers Day menu planning! Some of you may have noticed that "Clamms never has any bloody Vongali on a Monday!" Well Vongali as well as NZ Salmon and Blue Swimmer crabs are almost impossible to get on a Monday simply because there is no transportation available to get the product to market in time for Monday's sale. Chances are if you can get these products on a Monday they are left over from Friday.
