Market Report

4-03-2014

The fish market gods have smiled upon the Melbourne Seafood centre!

Great variety, fantastic quality and very few negatives for the week so far.

The attached photos show just a sample of the quality seafood available to Clamms customers today; Rock flatheads were caught in Welshpool Victoria, Coral Trout out of far north Queensland and those fantastic Sea Bream are from Lakes Entrance here in Victoria also.

Tuna and Swordfish supply this week may get a little tight due to our normal supplier undergoing some maintenance on his fleet in QLD although on Thursday we have a shipment of Tunas coming from Bermagui NSW.

As mentioned in previous reports the NZ King salmon price has increased from this week and will stay high for the foreseeable future. The delicious WA octopus hands and their rumored arrival into wholesalers around the country has just about reached mythical status! Every week for the last 3-4 weeks we've been told "it'll be there this week" it's now a case of we'll believe it when we see it!

There was a public holiday in WA on Monday this week which only affects Marron customers, donít stress too much it's only caused a delay of one day. Some other quality lines of seafood around today include Hapuka, incredible Blue Eye (bulk buy), John Dory, Flounders, Cone Bay Barramundi, Red mullet and Vongali. Donít forget Clamms Seafood has extended the special Bulk Buy on Cape Grim Tenderloins and we'd hate for you to miss out on the latest shipment of Mojama from Queensland or the Okinawa sourced Umi Budo aka sea grapes.
