Market Report

25-02-2014

It's looking like this may be a good week in seafood! Little to report as far as the usual disasters go although the high price of Snapper is still scaring some industry stalwarts.

To counter the Snapper price many other popular lines have come right back down including; Tuna, Flathead, Blue Eye (bulk buy), Swordfish and Gummy Shark to name a few.

This weeks Bulk Buy list is also a bit of a dream selection! Everything from premium fish species, excellent Cape Grim Tasmanian beef and beautiful 1/2 shell scallops are all to be had at quite a reasonable price point.

Re capping last weeks news; Tasmanian Triploid oysters are still in short supply due to incredible demand, we are seeing fresh Tasmanian Urchin Roe (pictured) at the market now and expect to through most of autumn.

The Queensland Mojama tuna has been an incredible success with Clamms almost selling out in the first week! Never fear more stock is on the way. Local fish quality has been excellent the pictured Redfish and long line Baby snapper were practically alive when they arrived!
